F. Coleman Simmons
F. Coleman Simmons, 94, of Lake Shores, Littleton died Monday, January 13, 2014.
Coleman was born December 10, 1919, in Forsyth County to George Marion and Hattie Coleman Simmons. He honorably served his country during World War II in the US Army and retired after 32 years with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Coleman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary E. Hux, sisters-in-law, Erma Hux and Julia Ann Hux Fitts both of Roanoke Rapids, nieces, Velna Hux of Roanoke Rapids and Muzette Fitts Kiger, ( Jack), and their daughter Mary-Braswell of Weldon and nephew Chris Fitts (Beth) of the Darlington Community and other nephews and nieces Michael Simmons, Bobby Simmons, Lannie Simmons, Tom Crater, Patricia Simmons, Judy Thompson and Jane Crater.
He is preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law Bill Hux and Charles N. ''Poochie'' Fitts.
Graveside services will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2:00 PM. with Rev. Stan Lewis and the NC Highway Patrol Honor Guard officiating.
The family will receive in the fellowship hall following the services and at other times at the home.
Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
